I too have taken a gander at that odd cave on Barham. I have read it was part of the estate that occupied that corner in the 30's. I was investigating it as it fits the description of an old 20's roadside attraction that was once part of the area. Monkey Island. Monkey Island was a 100 foot island surrounded by a moat and covered by a large net. It housed hundreds of depressed little monkeys that were trapped on the island as monkeys dont swim. Motorist could stop by and feed the monkeys for a small fee. It featured a small cave on the island. Monkey Island was a popular roadside attraction for those traveling through the Dark Canyon area.

Damn, the Universal lot is big. I recognize that area. It's near the Jurassic park set and the Psycho house. I think it's also near the Wisteria Lane set for Desperate Housewives. They shoot that there, right?
