Richard Woods at Perry Rubenstein is very Todd Oldham.

Yayoi Kusama’s big pumpkins at Gagosian. Her infinity reflection candle chamber was in the back but NO PHOTOS PLEASE.

Mary Boone’s ceiling was most impressive.

Comme des Garcons’ runway portal to the high-priced fashion dimension.

The lawyers that used to occupy what is now Todd Oldham’s studio are still on the door.

I know Houston isn’t known for cutting edge art, but the Rice U Art Gallery has been showing great artist for years. Yayoi Kusama was there in ‘97 (Dots Obsession), where she apparently was wearing an outfit matching the piece and jumping out at visitiors.
The current show by Brazilian artist Henrique Oliveira (Tapumes) is gorgeous as well.
I know NYC and LA are the best cities to see art, but there’s good stuff to be found in unlikely places. Consider yourself invited.
